3. When Payment Is Taken

  • Payment is collected in full at the time you place your order
  • By completing the checkout process and clicking "Place Order" or "Complete Payment," you authorize us to charge the full order amount β€” including any applicable taxes β€” to your chosen payment method
  • Your payment will appear on your bank or card statement as CURLSPIKE or similar
  • We do not operate a "pay on dispatch" or "pay on delivery" system unless explicitly stated during a specific promotion

4. Order Confirmation & Receipt

Once your payment is successfully processed:

  • You will receive an Order Confirmation Email to the email address provided at checkout within 1 hour
  • This email will include:
    • Your unique order number
    • A full summary of items purchased
    • Your shipping address
    • The total amount charged
    • Estimated processing and delivery timeframe

If you do not receive a confirmation email within 1 hour:

  1. Check your spam or junk folder first
  2. Search your inbox for emails from support@curlspike.com
  3. If still not found, contact us at support@curlspike.com with your full name and the email address used at checkout

⚠️ Important: Your Order Confirmation Email confirms receipt of your order and payment. It does not confirm shipment. A separate Shipping Confirmation Email will be sent once your order is dispatched with your tracking number.


5. Pricing & Currency

Pricing Policy

  • All prices displayed on curlspike.com are in USD ($) United States Dollars
  • Prices include applicable US sales tax where required by law β€” this will be calculated and displayed at checkout
  • We reserve the right to change product prices at any time without prior notice
  • The price displayed at the time you place your order is the final price you will be charged β€” price changes after your order is placed will not affect your confirmed order

Pricing Errors

  • In the event of a pricing error on our website (e.g., a product listed at an obviously incorrect price due to a technical error), we reserve the right to:
    • Cancel the affected order(s)
    • Issue a full refund to the original payment method
    • Notify you by email explaining the pricing error

International Currency

  • All transactions are processed in USD ($)
  • If you are shopping from outside the US, your bank will convert the charge to your local currency at their current exchange rate
  • Curlspike is not responsible for any currency conversion fees, foreign transaction fees, or exchange rate differences applied by your bank or card provider

6. Sales Tax

United States

  • Sales tax is calculated based on your shipping address and applicable state and local tax laws
  • Tax rates vary by state and are automatically calculated and displayed at checkout
  • Some states have sales tax exemptions for certain product categories β€” these are applied automatically where applicable
  • We comply with all applicable US sales tax nexus obligations

International Orders

  • United Kingdom: UK import VAT may apply depending on order value
  • European Union: VAT may be collected at checkout or by customs authorities upon arrival, depending on order value and destination country

  • Australia: GST may apply and will be displayed at checkout where applicable

7. Failed or Declined Payments

If your payment is declined at checkout, this is typically due to one of the following reasons:

Common Causes of Payment Decline

  • ❌ Billing address does not match the address registered with your bank
  • ❌ Insufficient funds or credit available on your card
  • ❌ Your bank has placed a restriction on online or international transactions
  • ❌ Your card has reached its daily spending limit
  • ❌ The transaction was flagged by your bank's fraud detection system
  • ❌ Your card has expired

What to Do If Your Payment Is Declined

  1. Double-check your card details β€” ensure the card number, expiry date, CVV, and billing address are entered correctly
  2. Check your available balance β€” ensure you have sufficient funds or credit
  3. Contact your bank β€” ask if they have blocked the transaction and request they authorize it
  4. Try a different payment method β€” use PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a different card
  5. Try a different browser or device β€” sometimes browser issues can cause checkout problems
  6. Clear your browser cache and cookies β€” then try again

⚠️ Please Note: We are not able to override payment declines issued by your bank or card provider. Your bank's decision is final. We recommend contacting your bank directly for declined payment issues.

8. Duplicate Charges & Accidental Payments

If you believe you have been charged more than once for the same order:

  1. Check your bank statement carefully β€” sometimes authorization holds can temporarily appear as duplicate charges but are pending and will drop off automatically within 3–5 business days
  2. Check your email β€” verify whether you received more than one Order Confirmation Email
  3. Contact us immediately at support@curlspike.com with:
  • Your full name
  • The email address used at checkout
  • Your order number(s)
  • A screenshot or description of the duplicate charges

We will investigate promptly and issue a full refund for any confirmed genuine duplicate charge within 5 business days.


9. Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL)

We offer Buy Now, Pay Later options through Shop Pay Installments (powered by Affirm) and PayPal Pay Later where available.

Important BNPL Terms:

  • BNPL options are subject to credit approval by the respective third-party provider (Affirm / PayPal)
  • Curlspike is not responsible for the approval, denial, terms, interest rates, or fees associated with any BNPL plan
  • If you choose a BNPL option, your agreement is directly with Affirm or PayPal, not with Curlspike
  • Late payments, fees, and interest are governed by your agreement with the BNPL provider
  • Returns and refunds for BNPL orders follow our standard Return & Refund Policy β€” the refund will be applied to your BNPL balance
  • Please review the BNPL provider's terms and conditions carefully before selecting this payment option

10. Fraud Prevention & Order Verification

To protect our customers and our business from fraudulent activity:

  • All orders are subject to automated fraud screening using Shopify's built-in risk assessment tools
  • Orders that trigger our fraud detection may be:
    • Placed on hold pending additional verification
    • Cancelled if fraud is confirmed
    • Subject to identity verification requests (e.g., photo ID for high-value orders)
  • If your order is held for verification, we will contact you by email within 1 business day
  • If an order is cancelled due to confirmed fraud, a full refund will be issued to the original payment method

We will report confirmed fraudulent activity to the relevant law enforcement authorities and payment networks.


11. Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

If you have a concern or dispute about a charge on your account, we strongly encourage you to contact us first at support@curlspike.com before initiating a chargeback with your bank.

We are committed to resolving all payment disputes fairly, transparently, and promptly.

Chargeback Policy

  • Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may significantly delay the resolution of your issue
  • We will respond to all chargeback disputes with full supporting evidence including order details, shipping confirmation, tracking information, and communication records
  • Fraudulent or unjustified chargebacks (e.g., claiming non-delivery when tracking confirms delivery) will be disputed with comprehensive evidence
  • Customers found to have made fraudulent chargeback claims may be:
    • Permanently banned from our store
    • Reported to payment networks and fraud prevention databases
    • Subject to legal action where applicable

12. Promotional Discounts, Coupon Codes & Gift Cards

Discount & Coupon Codes

  • Discount codes must be entered and applied at checkout before completing payment
  • Only one discount code may be applied per order unless explicitly stated otherwise
  • Discount codes cannot be applied retroactively after an order has been placed and paid
  • We reserve the right to withdraw, modify, or expire promotional offers at any time
  • Discount codes have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash or store credit
  • Discount codes cannot be combined with other promotions unless specifically stated

Gift Cards

  • Curlspike gift cards (if available) can be applied at checkout as a payment method
  • Gift cards are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash
  • Lost or stolen gift cards cannot be replaced
  • Gift card balances do not expire

13. Refund Payments

All approved refunds are processed back to your original payment method used at checkout. We do not issue refunds via cheque, bank transfer, or alternative payment methods.

Refund timeframes begin from the date we confirm and initiate the refund on our end. The actual time for the refund to appear on your statement is determined by your bank or payment provider and is outside our control.

  • We do not store your full payment card details on our servers
  • Payment data is handled exclusively by our PCI-DSS Level 1 compliant payment processors

  • Your payment information is never shared with third parties for marketing purposes
